Tubular Bells is the debut studio album by English multi-instrumentalist, composer and songwriter Mike Oldfield, released on as the first album on Virgin festcasdibincountgi.kiljathecombourfrelofzapenodedi.cold, who was 19 years old when it was recorded, played almost all the instruments on the mostly instrumental album. The album initially sold slowly, but gained worldwide attention in December when its opening.
  8. Other Notes. Mike Oldfield's original demos for what was to become Tubular Bells were recorded in his flat in Tottenham, London, using a Bang & Olufsen Beocord 1/4" tape machine, which he had borrowed from Kevin Ayers, leader of 'The Whole World', the band that Mike had just left.
